هدف البحث إلى النظر في مناقدة ابن رشيق للمتنبي فيما لا يتناسب مع الرتبة والمقام .
ومن هنا قام البحث في تقسيمه على بيان مواضع عدم مراعاة الرتبة، ومواضع عدم مراعاة المقام ؛ ولذا اشتمل البحث على مبحثين يسبقهما مقدمة وتمهيد ويعقبهما خاتمة وفهرس لمصادر البحث وقد جاءت المباحث كالتالي:
المبحث الأول : عدم مراعاة الرتبة  ، والمبحث الثاني :  عدم مراعاة المقام .
وخلص البحث إلى ضرورة الرجوع إلى مقتضيات الأحوال التي تحيط بالنص الشعري قبل نقده والحكم عليه جمالا وقبحا ؛ حتى يكون الناقد منصفا في حكمه.
 
The aim of the research is to look at Ibn Rashiq's criticism of Al-Mutanabbi in what is not commensurate with the rank and station.
Hence the research, in dividing it into an indication of the places where the rank was not taken into account, and the places where the place was not taken into account. Therefore, the research included two topics preceded by an introduction and a preface, followed by a conclusion and an index of the sources of the research. The investigations came as follows:
The first topic: not taking into account the rank, and the second topic: not taking into account the position
The research concluded that it is necessary to refer to the requirements of the conditions that surround the poetic text before criticizing it and judging it for beauty and ugliness; So that the critic is fair in his judgment.
